Emissions Monitor Applications
Anywhere there is a wet stack with acid gas emissions there will be problems trying to continuously monitor them. The GS1 overcomes the problems of corrosion and condensation by using a sophisticated dryer that selectively removes water vapour leaving behind the gas of interest in the sample stream for measurement by an electrochemical sensor. By utilising specific materials and by achieving all of this with no moving parts Process Instruments have created a reliable, and accurate monitor of acid gases in wet stacks.
Emissions Analyser SYSTEM OPERATION
The GS1 Wet Stack Emissions Analyser comprises three parts; the probe (including sample line), the main unit and the Crius electronics, is only available in the UK and Europe.
The probe is custom designed by Process Instruments (UK) Ltd for the GS-1. It is available in 3 sizes (150mm, 300mm and 450mm length) to suit the individual application. Connecting the sampling probe to the GS1 is a Teflon sample line. The line is heated to prevent the loss of soluble gases through condensation. The GS1 main unit utilises a highly sophisticated gas dryer that selectively removes water vapour and retains the gas to be monitored. The dryer is maintenance free, has no moving parts and is corrosion resistant. After the sample has been dried it can be allowed to cool without condensation. The sample gas is then monitored using electrochemical sensors. The intrinsically safe gas detectors incorporate stable electrochemical gas diffusion sensors and microprocessors in a single assembly. Up to three sensors can be mounted in the main unit, each providing a 4-20mA output that is directly proportional to the concentration of each gas of interest. From there the signals are taken to the Wet Stack Gas Emissions Monitor Crius electronics unit, the main features of which are detailed below.
